Super-Absorbent Cellulose Socks
Gray Universal Socks are now made with a super-absorbent cellulose filler. The cellulose blend comes from a renewable and 100% recycled resource and has been treated with a flame retardant. This is a change from the poly-blend fill material that they were previously made from. The new cellulose material is very thirsty; a single sock can absorb more than a gallon of oils, coolants, solvents or water. Universal Socks are ideal for surrounding spilled fluids or wrapping around leaky machines, conforming around the base and offering a snug fit with no seepage. Contain spills to keep the liquid from spreading to larger areas and becoming slippery hazards.
Universal Socks Chemical Compatibility
There will be a change in the chemical compatibility of the Universal Socks as a result of this change. The chart below is a Chemical Compatibility Guide for the new socks. If you find that your liquids are no longer compatible, we urge you to consider the Yellow HazMat Socks. The Yellow HazMat Socks maintain the chemical compatibility of the former gray Universal Socks with the poly-blend.
